Kairia And they say that a hero could save us Im not gonna stand here and wait Oh hold on to the wings of a hero watches the hope fly away Someone told me love would all save us But how can that be look what love gave us A world full of killing and blood spilling That world never cant The bay mare moved forward, carefully. I her small delicate body she seemed so weak and fragile, but to the knowledgeable eye, the mare was full of masked power. Her grace was unearthly. A powerful lady hidden in a beautiful mask. She was alone, but never showing it to loved ones… That is if she had any. An aloof mare, it was impossible to tell exactly who or what she was! But suddenly she stopped to listen, and everything but her mane and tail moved in the soft breeze. She could feel the earth below her and she asked it to tell her of it’s people. It showed her the few, and the great on the land, and she raised her head higher, and let the power go. She had started to glow a soft green, before it faded, and it was obvious that she was a little happier. She was over looking a beautiful beach, with water, and she smiled, as she stepped forward, down to the water. Here was where her power was less. She had no control over the water, but she did have control of the land under the water. She stopped again as she entered the water, the sertainty of the land being washed away into the surf. It was a slight comfort. The only place that she was less… Godly. She remembered a time in the far past where she had been normal. It had been so long ago…. Such a long time… She sighed, as she moved out of the surf and back onto the white sand, again feeling the sure touch of the earth below her, its powerful quiet power, that when unleashed almost nothing could stop. She nickered softly, wondering if anyone was there.

It was again a time when Mordecai had found an incessant need to run, or rather, fly, along the sands of the beach. He stayed visible, for the most part, though he was so lost in thought as he walked on the air just above the beach that his body flickered in and out occasionally. It wasn't that he was thinking on important things. No, he was more so trying to think of ways to spend his time, since he had so much of it.
It was then a flicker of movement caught his eye, and he stopped for a moment, hovering ceasing and plopping him down quietly amid the sand and gemstones. He recognized her easily, for it was one he 'lived' with, in a manner of speaking. Kairia, a fellow imperial. He walked over nickering in return as he heard her own. He stopped, staying on the sand. He had nothing against water, perse, he just didn't fancy getting wet at this particular moment.

She smiled, eying him. He was a friend… One that she… Lived with. She hadn’t expected to see him here… now, but she had to guess that he had as much time on his hands as her. She cocked her head to the side. ”What brings you around here Mord?”She called up to the stallion, amused. He was a flashy stallion, and odd… A friend… She was hoping for a mortal, but we all know how hard that is to find… especially now. She eyed the flashy stallion, curious as to what he was doing… It’s not every day that the wind god would stop for you… Being that he was usually drifting about… She smirked at the thought… he was literealy a drifter… A stallion who didn’t stay in one place.

His ears flickered to catch her voice, even now hardly able to stand still. He pranced for a moment before letting his feet brush the top of the water, but nothing more, hovering, ever hovering. His tail faded in and out of sight on occasion as he swished it at invisible flies.
What brings any of us to this world, Kairia? Pure boredom. Eight of us is not enough to be interesting, especially when everything changes to what you want it to as soon as you want it that way. True life was much more entertaining, though this does have its perks.
He replied, faint wisdom in his words, considering how flighty and how immature he was. Time still took it's toll on his mind, and he had seen and learned much over the few generations he'd been among their ranks. It had easily been twenty, perhaps even thirty, generations since Thorn and Cryos' deaths, but only about five since his. Perhaps with time, he would become wiser and calmer, but, then again, die young and stay young was a very real possibility.

The wind was smarter then he acted. She was young…. One of the youngest here, yet she had the memory of all others before her, and the earth’s memories. She sighed looking away for a moment, before swinging her dished head back towards the paint stallion, standing barely above the water. ”That is much to true Mordeci… Much to true.”
She knew she would never truly get to be a mortal again, unless she was aloud to come back… she wished she could have taken a mate, but… that was impossible… At least for the goddess of earth. The wind was on top of the earth, a powerful eroding force, yet the earth is constantly replaced by itself. She looked up at the flickering stallion.
”Your flickering again dear.”
She said absently. He probably knew, but she did like to tell him when he did. It was an interesting affect, that she couldn’t do… She was solid as a rock… or dimond or something…. She sighed thinking. Which she had done to much of as of late.

He shifted, so that one of his hind legs was resting, albeit it was resting on nothing, nor did he actually need to rest it. He just couldn't stop moving sometimes, and the winds were powerful today, making it one of those days. Normally he would be disappearing by now, especially when she commented on his flickering, a sign he needed to simply be one with his element. Not that he couldn't make the flickering stop, for he could. He simply didn't want to.
But something held him back. She was thinking, sighing. As usual, he felt the need to cheer her up, help her relax a little. He felt that way about anyone who was too serious, too thoughtful. He directed the air to send her mane and tail flying, dancing around her and tipped his head to the side, a mischievous grin on his face.
C'mon Kairia! Lighten up a little!
He'd been practicing settling his power over others, albeit they were mortal, and allowing them to flicker and fly with the wind as he did, when he let them. With earth it was the hardest, but he was almost tempted to try. Sometimes, you needed to learn to fly in order to have fun on the ground, or, at least, that was his philosophy.

Suddenly the water was lapping up at him, and the ground under her was shaking slightly. And then She was raised up a bit. The earth below her now had four pillers where her feet where. ”Earth is to heavy to lighten up… The wind is wild and free. The earth muses the wind by letting the wind thing it is taking it’s beauty away, yet the earth always grows back. This I know. My domain is here on earth. Yours is to fly and give joy to those who should be happy. A god or goddess should not be overly happy Mordeci. That can make us dangerous.”She knew it was his job to make others happy, but it was hers to keep the land healthy and willing to give what was needed. That gave her pleasure, Flying would not. She liked her feet on the ground, unless she wanted to jump, but there was always the knowledge that she would always fall back to earth.

There is nothing dangerous about joy, Kairia. It is the pain of having it taken away that causes one to become dangerous.
He replied, not understanding how happiness or joy could be dangerous as she said it was. It was the one thing that made him so very harmless, really. Without joy, there was other emotions such as pain, sorrow and regret. It was those emotions that made one unpredictable, and angry at the world. But it was here he stopped thinking about it. It was too complicated, he hated complicated things. Simplicity was much better, and... well, simpler. He figured that if everything was simple, then there would be less fighting. It was often misconceptions that started fights in the first place.

He didn’t understand… ”We aren’t meant to be happy otherwise we would have been left mortal so we could live out our life, with a mate, and not have to worry about him or her dieing, long before you. And I don’t take joy in flying… I’d much rather keep my hooves on the ground… or in it.”She said softly and quietly, obviously remembering when she was mortal. A time when it was much easier.. But now she had to think about her people, and exactly what they needed, and weather or not she would grant prayers. She watched the wind god for a moment. ”Not all of us love being a god, and getting to do as we wish…”
That part was just a mumble… A wish that she was normal… But in the end she would go home to her temple, and be perfectly happy… She was just in a bad mood as of right now…

His ears flattened back as he noticed her mood sour a bit, and without realizing it, he floated a little higher, his whole body flickering for a moment. His primary instinct was definitely flight, not fight, that much was apparent.
Yes, well, very few were made imperials before dying first. I was there, for just a few moments, before coming back to be an imperial. And I have no desire to ever return to it. The afterlife's not as wonderful as everyone thinks it is. It's just... dark. And there's something in the darkness. Something terrible.
His voice had quieted by the end, flickering in and out of sight, and even when he was solid his body was shaking at the thought, the remembrance. It was all he could do to hope that whatever it was in that black expanse of nothing never came through to life.
[/blockquote][/blockquote] --Yes, that was a sudden plot idea for this place. xD --

She hadn’t meant to be rude. She could see that he still feared the afterlife. She was one of the few who had not died first. The earth had saved her from that… Luckly. I was luckier then that Mord. I have no memory of the afterlife… I never went there. Right before I died, I was chosen. I wish I could have died, sometimes. You may not, but then life is much easier for you. You can run, and fly. Me, I’m earth… Can’t run and am to stubborn to do so.
She said softly watching him, carefully. She could see he wanted to get away, and now she didn’t know what she wanted. Did she want him to leave her to the beach? Or did she want him to stay? She didn’t know. Life used to be to short… Now… It was to long.

The truth was, he wanted to run. Perhaps that was what kept him running. As long as he could run, he could escape that darkness. And it wasn't even the dark that scared him, not really. It was what lived in it. However, out of fear, he also wouldn't run. Not from company, something that comforted him a bit.
Sometimes I think I feel it. Not the darkness, but whatever lives in it. Almost as if it's trying to get through.
He looked out over the water, glittering in the light. It was only somewhat reassuring. His flickering ceased for a moment, and he looked back over at her, meeting her eyes. It was quite clear that, for once, he was being entirely serious.
Sometimes, Kairia, I think it will get through. And it scares me.

Now he was being scary. She snorted and shivered slightly. ”Mord… Your saying that the dark thing from the afterlife is trying to come back… how does that happen? How could it? That-“ She shivered hard, now suddenly scared. What was he talking about? Why would that happen? She kenw a bit of the afterlife, from the memories she got from her predecessors. That wasn’t good. She shivered as she reached out to the earth, to give her comfort… Something she had found little of lately… maybe the darkness she had been feeling had been because of that. She didn’t like that idea at all….

I don't know. But I do know few ever go there and come back. Even most of us were taken to be imperials before we died, or just as we died, so we never had to see it. suppose they were hesitant about me. I've seen some of the horses who have come so close to death that they touched that darkness. Most have lost their sanity. I suppose I was already a little insane to start with, or perhaps its because I'm an imperial, but I can feel it.
He shivered again, and his body faded. A tint of color remained, the only indication he was still there at all. He tried not to think about it, but if he did... He closed his eyes for a moment, let his eyelids reenact a lack of light. He waited for a moment, but there it was. A stirring. As if something was there, or something was moving on the insides of his eyelids. He could see it, but at the same time he couldn't. Using the same way he shared powers, he tried to share this with Kairia, so she could understand. The wind buffeted around them in a feeble protest, spitting water up as it went.
There. Do you feel it? See it? Please, tell me I'm not the only one. I don't want to be the only one.

She watched him fade, then suddenly it was dark, and there was something moving. It was cold. She shivered and closed what ever that was that did it…. She gulped before she spoke. ”Yes….. Your not the only one, mord. What is that?” She asked her voice quivering with fear. She could feel the earth trying to reassure her, but she pushed it away, The fear was to big. When suddenly she felt the earth touch her, it recoiled, just as she wanted to do. She gasped slightly. ”The earth knows….” she whispered softly.
